Purchasing Coordinator

Position Purpose:
Assist in the Coordination of activities associated with the purchasing of materials and supplies for the company in accordance with cost, quality, and delivery.
Seek out, negotiate, and administer subcontracts for all construction services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Safety Awareness is a number one priority.
Follow-up on bid requests for current projects.
Obtain estimates on projects, while ensuring the proper materials are used.
Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, tools, parts, supplies.
Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes in Builder Trend.
Assist with the necessary information, material, and labor to onsite superintendent to make sure that he/she can complete the job on time.
Assist in creating and updating purchase orders. Assist in updating purchase orders as pricing changes.
Works in coordination with supervisor returning items to ensure proper credits are allocated.
Keep track of bulk inventory for our purchasing management department.
Seek out cost reduction opportunities.
Updating report progress to upper management in an email or current progress.
Assist in estimating/budgeting.
Update cost on PO’s and catalog.
Assist in doing take offs such as hardware & lighting.
Reconcile invoices to match PO’s.
Update selection sheets into Builder Trend.
Assist in quality control on jobs in progress.
Other duties as assigned.

Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate work.
Great communication and customer service skills.
Exceptional time management skills, ability to estimate work effort and time needed for various construction jobs.
Follow safety guidelines.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based upon upcoming deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn new software.
Ability & willingness to walk job sites.
Construction background a plus.
Knowledge of construction materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective building of a home.
Manage construction contract drafts and bid on projects.
Excellent writing skills for budget proposals and various reports requested by management.
Excellent technical skills and understanding of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints. Ability to read house plans and plot plans.
Work in a team environment where all succeed.
Communicate with the responsible parties to ensure quality construction meets company standards.
Qualifications/Prior Experience:
High School Diploma required.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or related field a plus but not required.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.
Must have strong mathematics and communication skills.
Experience in project management within construction is preferred, not required.
Experience as a Purchasing Officer, Purchasing Agent or Buyer is preferred, not required.
Proficient in Microsoft office (specifically builder software such as Builder Trend or similar intricate systems) and general computer software.
High degree of familiarity with contract, subcontract, and terms and conditions documents is preferred however not required.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Work Environment:
The work performed is conducted both in an office and on jobsite(s).
Must be able to walk, talk, sit, stand, and communicate throughout an 8-hour period.
